MAURA DEMOUY
(SHE/HER)

TRAINING AND LL.M. DIRECTOR (GEORGETOWN LAW ASSISTANT DEAN FOR EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION)

Maura DeMouy is Georgetown Law's Assistant Dean for Experiential Education. She oversees the administration of all non-clinical experiential courses - the J.D. Externship Program, practicum courses, and simulations (including first-year Week One simulations). She develops the experiential curriculum in these areas, serves as the point of contact for faculty, works closely with field supervisors, and advises students with issues that arise. She has spent extensive time in the classroom teaching law students legal research and writing, oral advocacy, professionalism and other skills that prepare them for legal practice.

Maura also serves as the Executive Director for the RISE Program (for first-gen and other students with less exposure to the law). She co-founded the program in 2018 with 57 students. The program now supports over 700 RISE Fellows (students and graduates). With a focus on community building and academic and professional skill development, the RISE Program successfully prepares students for thriving on campus and in the legal profession.

Before becoming Georgetown Law's Assistant Dean for Experiential Education, Maura served as the Law Center's Director of Academic Success and Deputy Title IX Coordinator. She was the Dean of Students at Catholic University of America's law school. At University of Maryland's law school, she taught legal research, writing, oral advocacy and a fieldwork practicum in the law school's Women Leadership and Equality program and coordinated programming for the LEAD Initiative to prepare students for practice.

In 2022, she was selected as one of Women We Admire's Top 50 Women Leaders for DC.
