MARIE J. ALTIDOR (SHE/HER)

DCALF FELLOW

Marie J. Altidor joined DC Affordable Law Firm as the inaugural Open Horizon Heirs’ Property and Estate Planning Fellow in September 2025. She supports clients in probate, estate planning, and property law matters, with a particular focus on addressing heirs' property challenges and preserving intergenerational wealth.

Marie is a Juris Doctor candidate at Howard University School of Law, where she graduated in May 2025. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance, cum laude, with a minor in Business Law from Florida Atlantic University.

Before law school, Marie worked as a licensed insurance agent, where she advised clients on home, auto, and life insurance strategies to help them achieve financial security. Her experience sparked her passion for guiding families through complex planning processes to protect their assets and secure their futures.

During law school, Marie participated in the Estate Planning and Heirs’ Property Clinic, where she drafted wills, trusts, and powers of attorney while working directly with clients to resolve property title issues and prevent wealth erosion. She served in multiple leadership roles, including President of the Christian Legal Society and Social Action Co-Chair for the Student Bar Association. She also gained legal experience through internships at Bean Kinney & Korman, P.C., and Marriott International Inc.’s legal department, where she worked on trusts and real estate issues, regulatory compliance, and transactional law.

Marie Altidor is passionate about expanding access to justice and ensuring estate planning services are accessible to all, particularly to underserved communities. She is excited to collaborate with DCALF and Open Horizon to help families navigate complex legal processes and preserve their legacies for future generations.
