CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Lan Nguyen joined DC Affordable Law Firm (DCALF) as Chief Operating Officer in December 2025. In this role, Lan leads DCALF’s operational, people, and organizational effectiveness strategy, ensuring the infrastructure, culture, and systems that power DCALF’s mission to expand access to justice for DC residents. She oversees HR and talent strategy, finance and compliance systems, performance management, and organization-wide planning, strengthening a resilient and equitable foundation for DCALF’s next decade of growth and community impact.

Lan is among a small cohort of operations executives whose expertise spans HR strategy, organizational development, labor and employment law, and mission-driven nonprofit management. She is known for guiding organizations through pivotal periods of growth and transformation, building durable systems that elevate operational integrity and enable high-quality, equitable services.

Before joining DCALF, Lan held senior leadership roles at the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum, FairVote, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, The Health Management Academy, Aptara, and Sidwell Friends School. Across these roles, she strengthened governance and compliance structures, advanced inclusive workplace cultures, established leadership pipelines, and stewarded operations for both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities.

Lan holds a Master of Science in Human Resources Management, and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. As a first-generation Southeast Asian immigrant, she brings a personal commitment to dignity, equity, and expanding access, values that deeply align with DCALF’s mission.
