JAVIER CRUZ-PEREZ (HE/HIM/EL)

PROBATE & ESTATE PLANNING SUPERVISING ATTORNEY

Javier Cruz-Perez joined DC Affordable Law Firm (DCALF) as a Supervising Attorney in the Estate Planning and Probate Practice Group in April 2026. At DCALF, Javier supervises and represents clients in probate and estate planning matters, bringing a deep commitment to expanding access to affordable legal services for individuals and families who face barriers to representation.

Javier has centered his career on access to justice. He began his legal career at Legal Services NYC (LSNYC) in the Bronx, where he represented and later supervised attorneys representing low-income tenants facing eviction as part of New York City's Universal Access to Counsel program. Prior to joining DCALF, he served as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where he advised on fair housing enforcement and civil rights matters. His experience advising clients through high-stakes decisions affecting housing, finances, and family stability gives Javier a broad perspective that he now brings to his work in estate planning and probate.

Javier earned his J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where he served as an Articles Editor on the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) Law Journal. He received his B.A. in Economics with a minor in Spanish from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Javier is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and New York.
