Yasmine Ahkami joined DC Affordable Law Firm in August of 2023. She graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia, where she majored in Government and minored in Psychology, in 2020. While in college, Yasmine volunteered with local refugee resettlement agencies and served as a research assistant for a lab studying adolescent psychology.

Yasmine graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2023 with a Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies Certificate. While in law school, Yasmine followed her passion for protecting human rights and promoting social justice. She served as a Senior Editor for the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal and worked with students from the Georgetown School of Medicine on legislative advocacy through the Health Justice Alliance. Yasmine also had the opportunity to serve as a student attorney with the Center for Applied Legal Studies, where she successfully represented a client seeking asylum in the United States. Through the Pro Se Litigants Practicum, Yasmine volunteered at the DC Superior Court’s Self Help Center and with the Family Law Assistance Network.

While at Georgetown, Yasmine interned for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, the National Center for Youth Law, and Legal Services of Northern Virginia. Yasmine is currently pursuing an LL.M. in Advocacy from Georgetown.
