DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Sherene Thomas joined DC Affordable Law Firm in October 2022 as the inaugural full-time Development Manager. Prior to joining DCALF, Sherene was a portfolio manager at Equal Justice Works. In this capacity, she was responsible for fundraising for the organization’s fellowship program and managed the relationships with EJW’s corporate, law firm, foundation, and individual donors based in the Midwest and Washington, D.C. metro area.  Additionally, throughout her tenure, Sherene mentored and oversaw the performance of more than 80 public interest legal fellows. Sherene began her career working as an Administrative Law Judge for the State of Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity and previously worked as the District Outreach Director for Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. She is passionate about advocating for justice and has served on the Board of Directors and Legal Panel for the ACLU of Florida and as Legislative Chair for the Orlando Chapter ofvthe National Congress of Black Women. She received her B.S. in Psychology and Criminology and her MPA from Florida State University and her J.D. from Barry University School of Law.
