REBECCA GOLDFRANK (SHE/HER/ELLA)

LEGAL DIRECTOR

Rebecca Goldfrank joined DCALF in August 2021 as the inaugural full-time Legal Director. Her career is devoted to public service having worked for nearly two decades with various legal services organizations in Washington, DC. Through this work, Rebecca has worked closely with many area law firms serving as a substantive mentor and trainer to hundreds of pro bono attorneys.

Prior to joining DCALF, she was the director of the Detained Children’s Program at Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition. In that capacity she managed a team of approximately thirty staff responsible for providing legal screening and orientation to the majority of the detained immigrant children in the DC region and providing full representation in removal proceedings and before USCIS to those children released in the area. Rebecca was responsible for the children’s program’s contract management and compliance and a member of the organizational leadership team.

Before joining CAIR Coalition, Rebecca directed a program devoted to providing high-quality, free legal representation to children and caregivers in complex child welfare and custody matters at Children’s Law Center (CLC). Rebecca led the organization’s domestic relations practice while also defining organizational culture and priorities. From 2004 – 2011 she was a staff attorney and supervising attorney at CLC managing a varied caseload.

Rebecca is an active member of the DC legal community. She serves as a Complaint Examiner with the DC Office of Police Complaints where she makes determinations regarding allegations of police misconduct. Until March 2020, Rebecca staffed the DC Bar Pro Bono Center’s monthly Saturday Advice and Referral Clinic which provides free legal advice on any civil legal matter. 

Rebecca graduated cum laude from American University, Washington College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from New York University. In 2022, Rebecca was honored with the Elliot Milstein Award for Professional Excellence from American University Washington College of Law.  She is proficient in Spanish.
