MICHELLE SHAPIRO MARYNYCH (SHE/HER)

STAFF ATTORNEY

Michelle Shapiro Marynych joined DC Affordable Law Firm in September 2021. Michelle earned her B.A. and graduated magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis where she majored in political science. After graduation, Michelle taught English as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine and then worked for the government as a program analyst at the Office of Trade.

Michelle started law school at Georgetown University Law Center in 2018, where she focused on immigration matters. She served as managing editor of Georgetown’s Immigration Law Journal and on the board for Georgetown’s International Migrants Bill of Rights organization. During law school, she interned with the Peace Corps Office of General Counsel, the Tahirih Justice Center, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and Al Otro Lado, where she worked with asylum seekers at the US-Mexico Border. She also served as a student attorney in both Georgetown’s Asylum Clinic and the Women and Immigration Practicum.

Michelle graduated from Georgetown Law in 2021, with a certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies. She was recognized as a Special Pro Bono Pledge Honoree for providing over 100 hours of pro bono service. She is currently pursuing her LLM in Advocacy at Georgetown Law.
