JUDITH BENIGNI
(SHE/HER)

Associate & DCALF Fellow

Judith Benigni joined DC Affordable Law Firm in August 2023. Judith came to DCALF with a desire to support individuals empowering themselves while helping and providing a voice for those in need. She has a JD from Georgetown University Law Center (2023) and a BA from Florida International University, Honors College (2019). She is continuing her education at Georgetown Law, where she will earn a LL.M. in Advocacy.

As a law student, Judith was interested in local government and was a research assistant for Georgetown’s State and Local Policy and Law Institute. She also focused on housing issues and the crisis of housing facing marginalized communities in DC. She interned at the Tenants Rights Coalition for Brooklyn Legal Services in 2021. In 2022, she was a student attorney in the legal clinic Rising for Justice, providing legal services for tenants in DC. There, she represented low-income tenants in court at hearings and was able to pause several eviction proceedings. Additionally, she completed several internships where she learned the process of litigation and how to effectively represent clients. Her internships include the DC Office of the Attorney General and the US Attorney’s Office of South Florida.

Before law school, Judith was discovering a public interest career. She lived in Miami, Florida, and volunteered at the South Florida Red Cross and at her local food bank. In the summer of 2019, she became familiar with the DMV community, working as a caseworker at Arlington Offender Aid and Restoration, where she had the opportunity to help participants complete court-ordered community service hours.
