Associate & DCALF Fellow

Brittany Smith-Harding was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She joined DC Affordable Law Firm in August 2023. Brittany came to DCALF with an unwavering commitment to serve those individuals who face social inequality in the community, having seen the structural inequalities and volatile impact of the law.

Before law school, Brittany attended Howard University in Washington D.C., where she received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science. After graduation, Brittany was a legal assistant at a leading personal injury firm in the District of Columbia, where she engaged and supported the needs of a diverse client portfolio.

Brittany graduated cum laude from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC Law). While in law school, she completed over 855 clinic hours. Brittany spent one semester as a student attorney in the Whistleblower Protection Clinic and two semesters as a student attorney in the Housing Advocacy and Litigation Clinic at Rising for Justice, where she worked directly with District residents to fight the consequences of poverty, prevent homelessness, and worked to combat the affordable housing crisis in the District of Columbia by helping to prevent evictions, preserve affordable housing, and securing tenant’s rights under District law.

Brittany spent her first summer in law school as a law clerk with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender in the Prince George’s County office, Parental Defense Division, and in her second summer in law school, she worked as a legal intern with Rising for Justice, making her their longest-serving student.

Additionally, Brittany served on the Executive Board of the ‘Women’s Law Society,’ and the Black Law Student Association. In her third year of law school, Brittany also worked for UDC Law’s Clinical Program, furthering her commitment to the students, community, and profession.
